Victorious Only Because He Inquired of The Lord.

It is exactly one year today I did a post on David and Goliath. It was titled ‘The Goliath Law’.

Today the title has changed but the principal actors remain the same-David and Goliath.

I heard ‘David Is Victorious Only Because He Inquired of The Lord’.

So, I went on the internet to search and to understand what it means to inquire of the Lord before making any decision or making any move.

It was exciting to note that the first scripture on the subject matter of inquiring first of the Lord before making a move that popped out to me was this, and I quote:

‘And David inquired of the LORD, saying, Shall I pursue after this troop? shall I overtake them? And he answered him, Pursue: for thou shalt surely overtake them and without fail recover all’.1 Samuel 30, Vs 8.

The Amalekites, enemies of the Israelites

The Amalekites, enemies of the Israelites, had taken King David’s people as captives in Ziklag. The Amalekites did not slay the women but took them away as captives. King David’s wives were also taken away as captives. The King wept and then did the most important thing at the moment. He inquired of the Lord if he is to pursue the enemies to recover his people and all the spoils taken by the enemies.

God, who knows the end from the beginning answered, ‘Pursue’.  King David pursued the enemies as directed by God, and King David and his men overtook the Amalekites, slayed them, and recovered ALL.

Do Not Rush Decisions or Next Moves

The big lesson here for us All; Never rush decisions or next moves. Instead, trust God, and inquire of Him before we decide. This approach certainly assures us of victory. God is a God of integrity, when he gives us a way to follow and we obey Him, as a God of Integrity God assures us of success.

Let’s make it a way of living to inquire first of The Lord before we make the next decision or move no matter how insignificant or significant we may think that decision or move is for sustainable success.

Posturing For Success

So, what does it mean to inquire of the Lord? In my search for an answer, the Lord directed me to an article written by Selenia Vera titled ‘Inquiring of The Lord- Posturing Ourselves for Success’.

The article captures the core of my message. I do not desire to water down the excellent write-up by the author. I have therefore decided to attach the link to the article. However, I have taken the liberty to write in the paragraphs below, a few excerpts from the article which are at the core of my message.

I recommend the article as a must-read to All. Please do not miss it. It is a treasure that, if applied to one’s way of living, will make each one of us victorious in our endeavors in life.

Excerpts:

when we seek the counsel of God, He gives us inside information and the edge in every situation we may encounter or find ourselves in. However, how much we inquire or whether we inquire at all is our choice to make. But to inquire of Him is the best way to go if we want to be spiritually successful. It is possible to live a life of victory, satisfaction, and divine favor—a life of miracles—when we inquire of the Lord and follow Him in all we do.

When we look deeply into David’s life and writings, we find an example (a road map, if you will) of how David postured himself before God and how we also are invited to live our lives. We were created and fashioned to succeed in all we do, having been made in the likeness and image of God—who has never and will never fail, because success is who He is.

Most people are aware of King David’s shortcomings, sins, and failures, but fewer are aware that David was known as a man after the very heart of God. In Acts 13:22 it is said of David,

A Man After My Heart

“[God] raised David to be their king, concerning whom He also testified and said, ‘I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after My heart, who will do all My will.’”

We can achieve success despite life’s obstacles and challenges when we keep our eyes on the Savior and make Him, as David did, our one thing. He is the one who holds our course steady. And He will complete His work in our lives. 1 Thessalonians 5:24 reminds us of this truth, saying of the Lord, Faithful is He who calls you, and He also will bring it to pass.

Our God is faithful. He never fails. Trust Him as King David did. Not only did King David trust God, but he also always had a repentant heart. God is merciful and is always ready to forgive us our sins when we return to him with a contrite heart. The psalmist says in Psalm 51: 17 KING James version, ‘The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: A broken and a contrite heart, thou wilt not despise’.

Conclusion

I conclude by saying that giants are defeated by unassuming opponents. It is important to note that little ‘underdogs’ defeat giants like Goliath because the ‘underdogs’ understand that their battle is not theirs but is of The Lord.

Glory and Honor belong to our God Almighty, to our Lord Jesus Christ, and The Holy Ghost.

Let’s Give God Praise today and forever more. Amen.
