Sew Your Valves.

Sew Your Valves.

eorits

I heard ‘tell them to sew their valves’.

I wondered what the Holy Spirit wants to express to people with this message.

Then I inputted on Google’s search bar, the exact message as I had received it, and to my surprise, google took me to the findings below.

My attention was drawn to an article titled ‘Integrity of Heart’ by a writer called Dr. RUSSELL M. NELSON. Shortly after the writer introduces his topic, he starts talking about valves in the heart.  In his article, he draws on his experience as a cardiac surgeon to illustrate this important topic.

The Mitral Valve

Dr Nelson says ‘The mitral valve opens widely to let blood enter the pump, and then it snaps securely shut when blood is ejected from the heart. The work of the heart goes on day after day, year after year, with or without your awareness.

Dr. Nelson goes further to say cardiac surgeons speak of the heart in terms of its structural integrity. Integrity denotes a state of completeness.  He further states that if any component of the heart loses its integrity, the heart is impaired, and a vicious cycle ensues. An anatomical flaw leads to improper function, and improper function leads to further failure. Therefore, the ultimate objective of any cardiac operation is to restore structural integrity to the heart.

The Structure of The Heart

Dr Nelson provides more details on the structure of a heart. He says ‘Your mitral valve opens and closes about 100,000 times a day—36 million times each year. It consists of soft billowing tissue, cords, and attachments.

Applying the mitral valve analogy, Dr. Nelson depicts a model of spiritual integrity. Let the sail of integrity be tethered by cords attached to us as individuals. And he goes on to say let us label each cord with a spiritual quality. Specific attributes of character he likens to cords in the heart are – being honest, true, chaste, benevolent, virtuous, doing good, and seeking things of good report as symbolic cords in the heart. He says integrity is characterized by the strength of each of these cords of character.

Broken Cords

Then he says, imagine that one of those supporting cords is broken—the cord of honesty, for example. If that cord breaks, the law of sequential stress immediately imposes additional strain on the neighboring cords of chastity, virtue, benevolence, and so on.

Consequently, Dr. Nelson postulates that integrity safeguards family love, and love makes family life rich and zestful—now and forever.

What Is Spiritual Integrity

Spiritual integrity is the state of being undivided together with the quality of brutal self-honesty. It demands a considerable depth of self-awareness and an uncompromising willingness to be authentic. The first step to cultivating spiritual integrity is to recognize that we are not always honest.

What are the 4 principles of integrity?

be honest; 2. be transparent; 3. honour your word; 4. respect people.

What is soul integrity?

| March 01, 2022. STAN STRYCHARZ, PSY. D. Psychology defines integrity as “the quality of moral consistency, honesty, and truthfulness with oneself and others.

What does God say about integrity?

A person of integrity is honest and just in all his social dealings. He loves mercy and shows compassion toward others. Solomon advises us, “The righteous man walks in his integrity; his children are blessed after him” (Proverbs 20:7), and “The integrity of the upright will guide them” (Proverbs 11:3).

How do you develop spiritual integrity?

5 Ways to Build Your Integrity

Be ruthlessly honest with yourself. Of all the lies we tell, the ones we tell ourselves are the deadliest. …

Seek wise counsel. We all have blind spots. …

Decide to honor God, not please people. …

Be appropriately transparent. …

Put yourself first when it comes to personal growth.

What are some simple ways you can practice integrity?

Here are some examples of how to display integrity in daily life:

Refrain from sharing secrets and confidential information with others.

Remain honest with your partner.

Avoid gossiping about other people.

Follow through on promises you make.

Return found items without an expectation of receiving a reward.

Temptations

But none of us is immune to temptation says Dr Nelson, and the adversary (satan) knows it. He would deceive, connive, or contrive any means to deprive us of potential joy and exaltation. He knows that if one little cord of control can be snapped, others are likely to give later under increased strain. Then there would be no integrity. Then there would be no eternal life. Then Satan’s triumph would be assured.

Conclusion

In the book of Philippians, 3:14, the Apostle Paul encourages the Philippians to do as he does, forget the life that they had before answering the call to be saved, and focus on the calling to finish the faithful Christian life they now have in order to receive the upward prize of heaven which is eternal life.

We pray for God’s knowledge, wisdom, and understanding to give us the zeal to live lives of integrity and make eternal life which the Apostle Paul speaks of above.
