Jesus Christ Is Risen

Today, we celebrate Easter, marking the end of the Lent period with the Sacred Triduum.

What is the Sacred Triduum?

The Sacred Triduum, or Easter Triduum, is three days in the Catholic Church celebrating the Passion, Death, and Resurrection of Jesus Christ. This three-day period brings Lent to a close for the year, until another year rolls in.

This three-day period begins with the liturgy on the evening of Maundy Thursday, reaches its high point in the Easter Vigil, and closes with evening prayer on Easter Sunday. This period is the climax of the liturgical year and commemorates the Paschal Mystery, the saving actions of Christ.

Holy Thursday

Holy Thursday, also known by the Catholics as Maundy Thursday, is The Day that Our Lord Jesus Christ had the Last Supper with His disciples. The Supper was the final meal Jesus shared with his Disciples in Jerusalem, and during this Passover meal, …Jesus took bread, said the blessing, broke it, and giving it to his disciples said, “Take and eat; this is my body.”  The Lord’s supper signifies the New Covenant with Jesus Christ being the sacrificial lamb for humanity (1 Corinthians 5:7).

From my search on the internet the word maundy means “ the ceremony of washing the feet of the poor , especially commemorating Jesus’ washing of his disciples’ feet on Maundy Thursday” during The Last Supper.  Recorded around 1250–1300, the word maundy comes from the Old French mande, in turn from the Latin mandātum, which means “mandate or command.”

By this command, Our Lord Jesus Christ reinforces His whole essence as Humility Personified; having been born in a stable and yet being The Creator of all things that were ever created came into the world so lowly. What a Model of Humility for Humanity.

Jesus washing the disciples’ feet signifies humility and servant leadership, demonstrating how we should serve one another. Humility is a very important teaching in all human interactions, irrespective of the ecosystem, status, and positions. Humility draws from one of the concepts in the Holy Bible’s teaching on wisdom

Jesus’ act of washing His disciples’ feet also symbolizes the cleansing Power of Christ, both physically and spiritually, emphasizing His role as a Redeemer.

Furthermore, it models the sacrificial Love that Jesus expects His followers to exhibit towards each other.

Good Friday is the second day of the Triduum.

What does the Bible say about Good Friday?

The meaning of Good Friday marks the death of our Lord Jesus Christ. Though Our Lord Jesus Christ lived a perfect, unblemished life, He dies for the sins of mankind. So that, through His resurrection on Easter Sunday, we may have a way of salvation through Him (John 3:16).

Holy Saturday

On Holy Saturday the Church commemorates the day that Jesus lay in His tomb. The church sits in silence, remembering Christ’s body being laid in the tomb. This is a day of prayer and reflection for All believers in Jesus Christ.

Easter Sunday

What did Jesus do on Easter Sunday?

Jesus came to earth to save humanity by dying on the cross on Good Friday and resurrecting on Easter Sunday. By enduring and defeating death sacrificially for people, He swung open the gates of Heaven, making a way for sins to be forgiven and ushering Christians into the presence of God (Romans 5:8).”

Why do we celebrate Easter Sunday?

According to a writer on this topic on the internet, Easter is the sign of Victory over death. The sign of Victory over evil. The sign of Victory over chaos “.  Easter symbolises an invasion — an invasion of light into darkness, and Good into evil — so, Easter is a great time of hope for everyone.”

So, let us celebrate this great day of the Victory of Good over evil with deepest gratitude to Our Lord Jesus Christ, our Redeemer, Savior, Messiah, and King.

I love My Jesus, My Lord and Master.

Let’s Praise Him, Worship Him, Adore Him, Love Him and Fear Him; For His Mercies and Love endure forever.

Hallelujah to God Almighty, The Father, God, The Son, Jesus Christ, and God The Holy Spirit, The Divine Holy Trinity -One True God.

Rejoice! Rejoice! Rejoice! Our Lord is Risen!
