Then I heard, ‘You Know What Is Salvation? It brings Power and Strength.’
The Holy Spirit threw a rhetorical question at me. He asked me the question and provided me with the answer. To flesh out the statement to derive a deeper understanding of the message, as usual, I turned to my friend, Mr Google, for some insights.
What Is Salvation?
A definition of Salvation by a writer on the Got Questions website on the internet defines the Christian doctrine of salvation as “the deliverance, by the grace of God, from eternal punishment for sin that is granted to those who accept by faith God’s conditions of repentance and faith in the Lord Jesus.” Salvation is available in Jesus alone (John 14:6; Acts 4:12) and is dependent on God alone for provision and assurance.
This deliverance by the Grace of God is achieved the moment an individual accepts Our Lord Jesus Christ as Savior and simultaneously, the individual becomes a child of God, with full access to The Lord Jesus.
Believing Sinner Not Guilty
One of the articles on the above-referenced subject by the World Wide Mission Fellowship website says and I quote, ‘God, the Judge, declares the believing sinner to be “not guilty” and looks upon him or her as if they had never sinned; following the acceptance of Christ as One’s Personal Lord and SAVIOR. The reason God can do this is because His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ has died as a substitute and has borne all the punishment which the believing sinner should have borne. Our Lord Jesus paid the price of sin by the shedding of His Precious Blood on the Cross of Calvary.
Armed with this knowledge that our sins are forgiven, we now have the legal right/justification as children of God to tap into the Power and Strength of the Omnipotent, Omniscient, and Omnipresent God.
God’s Power and Strength
God’s strength in the Bible is readily seen in many of His works says the writer on the ‘Got a question’ website. The writer on the referenced topic says that God created the world and all that is in it with the power of His word. He parted the Red Sea, caused the sun to stand still, raised the dead, and performed many other great and glorious deeds. “Praise him for his acts of power” (Psalm 150:2). The one “who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep” (Psalm 121:4), because the God of all power needs no rest.
David Defeats Goliath
Also, in the bible, David defeated Goliath only because he relied on the Power and Strength of The Lord. In the Book of 1 Samuel 17:45, David said to the Philistine Goliath, “You come against me with sword and spear and javelin, but I come against you in the name of the Lord Almighty, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied. This day the Lord will deliver you into my hands, and I’ll strike you down and cut off your head. And indeed Goliath was brought down by David with just a sling that was empowered by the Power and The strength of The Lord.
Strength Is Surrender to God
It is important to note that the Bible also says that our strength is, paradoxically, related to surrender: “Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you” (James 4:7). We align ourselves with the strength of God through our total submission to Him; then we can withstand the wiles of the evil one. “Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes” (Ephesians 6:10–11).
Salvation The Firm Foundation
Therefore, Salvation is the Firm Foundation and Assurance of victory for a saved Christian in all aspects of his or her life. A saved Christian is one who not only accepts Jesus as his or her Lord and personal Savior but constantly seeks to abide in the Word of God; in the pragmatic application of the Word in truth and Spirit. When the word of God abides in us, and we plead The Blood of Jesus Christ, we can maintain a constant state of righteousness and holiness before the Throne of Grace through Our Lord Jesus Christ.
Conclusion; Without Holiness, You Cannot See God
I conclude by quoting Apostle Paul in the Book of Hebrews 12 14, the ESV Bible version says ‘Strive for peace with everyone, and for the holiness without which no one will see the Lord’. The NIV bible version says ‘Make every effort to live in peace with everyone and to be holy; without holiness, no one will see the Lord’. And the NASB bible version says ‘ Pursue peace with all people, and the holiness without which no one will see the Lord’.
Praise God Almighty, Praise Our Lord Jesus Christ, Praise The Holy Ghost.
